Trivandrum Central Railway Station

Trivandrum Central Railway Station was inaugurated on 4th Novemeber,1931.It was built during the reign of Sree Chithira Thirunal Maharaja of Trravancore.The building was built using only by rock. No bricks were used.The South terminal was built in 2004 and the West terminal was built in 2007. The building of the railway station is one of the landmarks in Trivandrum.

The Station is fully Wi-Fi enabled.

It is the largest and busiest railway station in Kerala in terms of passenger movement. This also is the second most important rail hub in South India and the most profitable station under Southern Railway Division.

Trains starts from here to major cities of India including New Delhi, Ahmedabad,Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Ernakulam ,Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Gwalior, Howrah, Hubli,Hyderabad,Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Madgaon,Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Vizag etc. This station is also noted for a whole range of amenities available within the premises. A second satellite station was opened in 2005 at Kochuveli called the Kochuveli Railway Station, near the International Airport.
Thiruvananthapuram is the first major city from south along the longest train route in India, Kanyakumari to Jammu.

The station has book-shops, restaurants, accommodation, Internet browsing centers and even an essential commodities shopping mall.
